Biomass Accumulation Model Learning Sequence

Focus:

The impact of current and future temperature and precipitation on biomass accumulation and carbon storage.

Rationale:

The Biomass Learning Sequence builds on the Biomass Accumulation Model and associated activities developed by the GLOBE Carbon Cycle project.  It begins with an introduction to the model and practice using the model.   Students then use local data and current climate to model changes in biomass and carbon storage over time. The sequence culminates with students using inquiry skills to investigate how future climate could impact biomass accumulation, and how this may differ across the world.  See the GLOBE Carbon Cycle Activities page for further information and resources on using the model.

Part 2. Analysis of current local data.

Part 3.  Advanced modeling activities with climate projections.
